Dr. Mattocks’ current work focuses on understanding healthcare utilization and health outcomes among women Veterans. Much of her research focuses on reproductive health care, particularly pregnancy and other gender-specific conditions, and the degree to which women veterans utilize both VA and non-VA care for these conditions. Dr. Mattocks also examines healthcare access and utilization among lesbian and bisexual women veterans. As a qualitative researcher, Dr. Mattocks conducts interviews and focus groups with women veterans to learn about their preferences and experiences for health care in the VA system.
Select current research includes:
1. Evaluation of fee basis care for gender-specific conditions, with a particular focus on the quality of fee basis care.
2. Examination of healthcare outcomes, costs, and utilization among Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) women veterans.
