        Overview
        Narrative
Timothy P. Hogan, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Health Informatics and Implementation Science. He is also the Implementation Research Coordinator for VA’s National eHealth Quality Enhancement Research Initiative (QUERI) Coordinating Center and a Research Health Scientist with VA’s Center for Health Quality, Outcomes and Economic Research (CHQOER) located at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial VA Medical Center in Bedford, MA. Dr. Hogan earned both his PhD and MS in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his BS in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to joining the Division in 2012, Dr. Hogan completed a VA Postdoctoral Fellowship in Health Services Research and was a Research Health Scientist at the Center for Management of Complex Chronic Care and the Spinal Cord Injury QUERI and an Assistant Professor within the Program in Health Services Research at the Stritch School of Medicine, Loyola University Chicago.Dr. Hogan’s expertise lies in the areas of consumer health informatics, personal health information management, implementation science, and research methods, specifically primary data collection and analysis techniques and the application of mixed method designs. His research focuses on individuals living with complex, chronic conditions and how they access and use health information, as well as the development and implementation of consumer health information services and systems to support effective self-management. Working from the perspectives of patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders, the findings from his investigations clarify the roles that information and information technology play over the trajectory of long-term illnesses.
