Research InterestsRuth Grossman

Dr. Grossman's main research focus is the interaction of verbal and non-verbal communication in people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).  She is working on a program of studies looking at how individuals with ASD produce and process facial expressions and prosody (tone of voice) during verbal interactions.  Dr. Grossman is using her clinical background in speech-language pathology to inform many of her research questions and has been publishing in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, the Journal of Nonverbal Behavior, and the Journal of Speech-Language and Hearing Research.  Her primary faculty appointment is at Emerson College in the Department of Communication Disorders.
