Being the oldest son, my father often reminded me to become a barrister, like himself.  Instead, I had a firm and inherent ambition to be a physician and treat patients with success.  At age 20, I set off from Uganda for medical education in India. Completing the internship in England and after having spent four years in general, orthopedic and thoracic surgery, I decided to become an anesthesiologist (anaesthetist in England); I was 31.

Exposure to intensive training and experience gained both at Kent & Canterbury Group of Hospitals and at Duke University was invaluable and unique.  It led me to a position as a staff anesthesiologist at Marlborough Hospital in 1981.

I like my profession as I continue to practice in the most efficient and safe manner, striving for the best outcome.  I continue to develop a keen interest in all subspecialities in clinical anesthesia.  Extrapolating the knowledge of basic sciences to the clinical aspect of medicine has been my favorite style of medical practice.  Teaching techniques in regional anesthesia and related topics, airway management in special situations, and basic sciences are my favorites.  What is more exhilirating is when residents learn and accomplish successful blocks.

Outside the operating rooms, my family and I share various outdoor hobbies year around. That's why I left surgery!
