Biography

Dr. Baldor is the Vice Chair of the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Major responsiblities include oversight of the Department's Undergraduate and Graduate Educational Programs. He also serves as the Director of Community Based Education for the medical school and the Director of Managed Care Education for the Meyers Primary Care Institute. Dr. Baldor is a graduate of the University of Vermont College of Medicine, and he completed his family practice internship and residency at Hahnemann Family Health Center in Worcester. Following three years with the Indian Health Service of New Mexico, he joined the faculty of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Baldor has served as President of the Massachusetts Academy of Family Physicians. He has published and lectured on a wide variety of family medicine and an eduational topics.  He authored the textbook Managed Care Made Simple, a widely utilized primer on the basics of managed care, healthcare costs, and the evolving U.S, healthcare system, currently in its 2nd edition (Blackwell Scientific, Inc.).

Dr. Baldor's special medical interests include skin diseases, managed care, evidenced based medicine and care of persons with intellectual disabilities. Additionally, advancing quality primary care education from the medical student to the practicing physician is of particular interest. His personal interests include grape physiology and fermentation.
