Dr. Deng is a psychometrician with an interest in the patient-reported outcome (PRO) measurement methodology. Particularly she is interested in applying advanced psychometric and statistical methods, including the classical test theory (CTT) and the item response theory (IRT) and their applications in the static and computer adaptive tests (CAT), to calibrate and validate measurement tools which are accurate, efficient, fair and informative. She has the training and background in educational measurement, where she was involved in the projects of large-scale achievement test analyses and calibrations prior to joining UMMS. As an assistant professor in Outcome Measurement Science division at Quantitative Health Sciences department, her current interests focus on methods comparing the alternative PRO measures and modeling the complex multi-dimensional health-related outcome constructs.
