My focus is on applying my expertise in the area of skeletal biology to develop new therapeutic strategies for bone diseases. Autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis cause various problems to the bone, including bone erosion, osteoporosis, and ectopic new bone formation, which require new treatment strategies. My study elucidated inflamed synovium derived microRNAs regulate bone erosion in rheumatoid arthritis. I am currently developing the gene therapy strategy using the Adeno Associated Virus to treat bone disease.
