Biography Stephenie C. Lemon, PhD, MS, the Barbara Helen Smith Endowed Chair in Preventive and Behavioral Medicine, is Professor and Chief of the Division of Preventive and Behavioral Medicine in the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences. She also serves as Co-Director of the Prevention Research Center at UMass Chan, Co-Director of the Physical Activity Policy Research and Evaluation Network, and Director of the Community Engagement Core of the UMass Center for Clinical and Translational Science. As a behavioral epidemiologist, Dr. Lemon's program of research focuses on chronic disease prevention and control in the realms of intervention and implementation science across a range of community ad clinical settings. Her work emphasizes the role of contextual factors in achieving behavior change. Her program of research includes intervention, implementation and systems research addressing community and public health capacity building related to the built environment and community design, physical activity and chronic disease prevention and management.
