Biography:

Dr. Jeroan Allison currently serves as the Chair for the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences at the UMass Chan Medical School. Initially trained as a primary care physician, Dr. Allison has made an increasing commitment to the emerging field of health equity intervention over the past 10 years.  His team has a particular interest in the concept of narrative intervention, or “storytelling” to address health disparities. Over the past 15 years, he has maintained continuous funding from several extra-mural sources such as the National Institutes of Health, the Agency for Health Care Quality and Research, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Dr. Allison is Co-Editor-in-Chief of Medical Care, a leading journal in the field of health services research sponsored by the Medical Care Section of the American Public Health Association. He holds a Master of Science degree in Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health and is board certified in Internal Medicine.
