I knew I wanted to be a doctor since I was in elementary school.

I graduated from the University of Buenos Aires in 1988 andentered a surgery residency at the British Hospital of Buenos Aires where I spent four years including the last one as chief resident. In 1993, Iwas accepted there for a three-year fellowship in general thoracic surgery. However, I have always been interested in cardiovascular physiology and in search of that training I came to the US in 1997 and completed a clinical fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery here at UMass.

In 2000, I started a surgical critical care fellowship at Mass. General. The following year I returned to UMass and joined the faculty in the surgery department and was appointed the coordinator of the cardiac ICU.

Three years later, I began a residency in anesthesiology at the University of Cincinnati. When I completed my residency, I returned once again to UMass but this time as a faculty member in the anesthesiology department. I currently provide clinical anesthesia in the operating rooms as well as serve as an attending physician in the ICU.

Over the past ten years, I have trained in top-notch institutions, and engaged in leading-edge research in cardiothoracic surgery further specializing in anesthesiology and surgical critical care. I have been very fortunate to practice in highly enriched environments where my productivity was greatly enhanced by the competitive and supportive atmosphere.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my wife and three beautiful children, as well as listening to music, playing tennis, soccer and skiing.

Since I have spent quite some time training in different specialties, I recognize how important a solid background is to practice medicine in the twenty-first century. I enjoy working with medical students and residents in order to help train better physicians that will be proud to be part of the healthcare system in the future.
