Dr. Epstein is a cancer epidemiologist with a research focus on hematological cancers, specifically multiple myeloma and its precursor, monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance. She is also interested in examining predictors of survival among cancer patients, and utilizing large population-based datasets to examine trends in mortality and cancer screening practices. Dr. Epstein's current work focuses on utilizing electronic health records and health claims data to conduct epidemiologic research and to develop case-finding data algorithms. Her past projects have included molecular and nutritional epidemiology analyses related to prostate and hematological cancers. She is a faculty member in the Division of Health Systems Science at UMass Chan and at the Meyers Health Care Institute, a former participant in the Cancer Research Network Scholars Program, and an AGING Initiative Multiple Chronic Conditions Scholar. She is also the site Principal Investigator at UMMS for the NIH-funded All of Us Research Program.
