BiographySybil Crawford, PhD, is a Professor in the Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing at the UMass Chan Medical School. Dr. Crawford has conducted research in women’s health for more than 30 years, with a particular focus on menopause. Her menopause-related research interests include body composition, menopausal symptoms, assessment of menopause stages, use of exogenous hormone therapy, and racial/ethnic differences in health in mid- and early old age. Dr. Crawford led the statistical team at the Coordinating Center for the multi-site Study of Women’s Health Across the Nation (SWAN) until joining the UMass Chan Medical School, and continues with the project as a co-investigator. She also served as the statistician on two pilot randomized clinical trials of non-pharmacologic interventions for hot flashes. Other completed projects include analyses of bleeding patterns and reproductive hormones to refine definitions of menopause staging, of interest to both clinicians and their mid-aged patients. Dr. Crawford serves as a member of the editorial board for Menopause, a premier journal for scientific articles related to menopause. Additionally, she collaborates on studies of medication use and adverse events in long-term care residents, and on studies of vaccine hesitancy.  | Sybil L.
