Biography

Linda Weinreb, M.D., is Vice Chair of the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health, and Pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Weinreb also serves as the Joy McCann Endowed Professor for Women in Medicine. In her role as Vice Chair, Dr. Weinreb oversees the department’s research efforts. Dr. Weinreb is recognized nationally as an expert on the health and support needs of homeless families. From 1991-1998, Dr. Weinreb conducted a comprehensive epidemiologic study of homeless and low-income housed families. She also has extensive expertise in the development, implementation, and evaluation of health care-based service interventions for homeless and low income housed families and children, and has provided oversight to several nationally recognized programs. Dr. Weinreb has particular interest in interventions that provide mental health and trauma-related services for vulnerable populations in the health care setting. She is currently Principal Investigator of two SAMHSA-funded projects to develop and evaluate a comprehensive intervention for homeless mothers and their children. Dr. Weinreb is also Principal Investigator of a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant to implement effective treatment models for depression in primary care.

Dr. Weinreb has published extensively in journals including JAMA, American Journal of Public Health, and Pediatrics, and is frequently invited to speak at national meetings.
