Academic BackgroundM.D., Tabriz University of Medical Science, Tabriz, Iran, 1993 Postdoctoral TrainingNational (Beheshti) University of Medical Science, Teheran, Iran, Residency in General Surgery, 1993-1998 UMass Memorial Medical Center, Residency in Anesthesiology, 2003-2005 Massachusetts General Hospital, Fellowship in Cardiac Anesthesiology, 2008-2009 As one of the newest members of the faculty and a previous resident of the UMass anesthesia program, I enjoy working with residents. It is an invaluable learning experience! During my surgery residency in Iran, I learned to appreciate the value of good patient care provided by a knowledgeable anesthesiologist in the OR. After immigrating to the U.S., there was an excellent opportunity for me to complement my background in surgery with anesthesia, the best of both worlds. It was a sound decision. My clinical interests include pediatric, thoracic and trauma anesthesia. I also like to perform and teach procedures such as fiberoptic intubations, blocks, invasive lines, and regional techniques. Nothing is more satisfying than feeling that you have given your best care for each patient. Every patient should be treated as a learning experience and as a result an accumulation of one's knowledge base. I highly encourage my residents to follow suit. As Sir William Osler said. "The value of experience is not in seeing much but in seeing wisely."
