    Research Interests

Research areas of interest: epidemiology of prostate cancer, epidemiology of hematological cancers, inflammation and cancer, nutritional epidemiology, molecular epidemiology, cancer survival, cancer screening, electronic health data

Dr. Epstein is a cancer epidemiologist with an interest in investigating the relationship between inflammation and cancer, focusing on prostate cancer and hematological cancers. She is also interested in examining predictors of survival among cancer patients, and utilizing large population-based datasets to examine trends in mortality and cancer screening practices among cancer patients. Dr. Epstein's current work focuses on utilizing electronic health records and health claims data to study cancer screening practices and to develop case-finding data algorithms. She is a faculty member at the Meyers Primary Care Institute, a former participant in the Cancer Research Network Scholars Program, and the site Principal Investigator representing the Meyers Primary Care Institute to the NCI-funded Cancer Research Network.
