Research Interests
Research areas of interest: hematological cancers and precursor conditions, prostate cancer, inflammation and cancer, nutritional epidemiology, molecular epidemiology, cancer survival, cancer screening, electronic health data
Dr. Epstein is a cancer epidemiologist with a research focus on hematological cancers, specifically multiple myeloma and its precursor, monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance. She is also interested in examining predictors of survival among cancer patients, and utilizing large population-based datasets to examine trends in mortality and cancer screening practices. Dr. Epstein's current work focuses on utilizing electronic health records and health claims data to conduct epidemiologic research and to develop case-finding data algorithms. Her past projects have included molecular and nutritional epidemiology analyses related to prostate and hematological cancers. She is a faculty member in the Division of Health Systems Science at UMass Chan and at the Meyers Health Care Institute, a former participant in the Cancer Research Network Scholars Program, and an AGING Initiative Multiple Chronic Conditions Scholar. She is also the site Principal Investigator at UMMS for the NIH-funded All of Us Research Program.
Bibliographic
PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media.
(Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.)
Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication.
Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication.
Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.)
