Bassel Mahmoud, MD, PhD, FAAD, received his medical degree from Ain Shams University-Faculty of Medicine in Egypt. He completed a dermatology residency program at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit in 2013. He received an outstanding resident award for dedication and exceptional achievements as a physician, researcher and teacher. Furthermore, Dr. Mahmoud completed a Mohs micrographic surgery and cutaneous oncology fellowship program in 2014, affiliated with Harvard Medical School, Lahey Clinic, for additional training in the management of skin cancers. Mahmoud's clinical interests in dermatologic surgery include Mohs micrographic surgery for skin cancers, vitiligo surgery (MKTP), nail surgery, scar revision, lasers, cosmetic surgery and pigmentary disorders. Dr. Mahmoud is board certified in dermatology. He also speaks Arabic and French fluently. He was an editor for a textbook on the management of vitiligo, he has written ten book chapters and has more than 20 peer-reviewed publications in the field of photodermatology, lasers and dermatologic surgery.

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
