I am an internal medical specialist and epidemiologist who specializes in assessing medication safety. I conduct clinical research, focusing on evidence synthesis, pharmacoepidemiology, and shared decision-making. I have led many impactful studies that have been incorporated into national and international guidelines on the treatment of chronic conditions. My research has been published in NEJM, JAMA, BMJ, and the Lancet. These have been featured in Nature Medicine, the NYTimes, CNN, the Washington Post, and the WSJ. The NIH, FDA  Reagan Udall Foundation for the FDA,  AHRQ, PCORI, and the World Bank have supported my work. 

I am a Diplomate of the ABIM  and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.  I obtained an MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. I completed research training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital as a Faculty Research Scholar supported by the NIH. I have taught and held faculty appointments at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins University. I was the Associate Director for the Center for Drug Safety and Effectiveness and core faculty of the Evidence-Based Practice Center and the Center for Public Health and Human Rights at Johns Hopkins University.
