I am an Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health at UMass Chan School of Medicine, with joint appointments in the Division of Health Systems Science, Department of Medicine, and Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences.
I am a Diplomate of the ABIM and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. I received my medical degree from the Patna Medical College, India. I completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Unity Health System, Rochester, NY. I obtained an MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. I completed research training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital as a Faculty Research Scholar supported by the NIH. I have taught and held faculty appointments at Johns Hopkins University and the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. I was the Associate Director for the Center for Drug Safety and Effectiveness and a core faculty member of the Evidence-Based Practice Center and the Center for Public Health and Human Rights at Johns Hopkins University.
My primary research focuses on evaluating the safety of medications. My areas of expertise include improving methods to conduct comparative effectiveness research, meta-analysis on harms, and developing tools to improve the quality of real-world evidence. I am interested in improving the care of older adults by evaluating the real-world safety and effectiveness of novel monoclonal agents for Alzheimer’s Disease and promoting deprescribing of inappropriate medications.
